Emulator Compatibility Guide Including Command Line Examples Empty
PostSubject: Emulator Compatibility Guide Including Command Line Examples   Emulator Compatibility Guide Including Command Line Examples EmptySat Jun 13, 2015 8:32 pm

Some emulators lack proper documentation and are extremely difficult to get up and running. This post is meant to elevate most of those problems. This guide will include steps on how to load roms via command line or the User Interface (UI) if the emulator does not support command lines. This guide will also indicate if certain functions within the emulator need to be enabled to play games as well as if the emulator requires bios files.

If anyone wants to offer assistance with this project, feel free to look over the To Do List below and post your findings here. I’ll update the 1st post when new information is discovered. Once everything has been updated and all items on the to do list are crossed off, I'll incorporate this into the help file.

--To Do List--
Untested systems / emulators:
• Atari 5200
• Atari ST

• Figure out which game formats each emulator supports e.g. bin / iso / img / cdd / cue / mds / pbp / ecm / interleaved / deinterleaved / etc.
• Figure out which emulators require games to have headers

Emulator Compatibility:

Blue Text = No special command lines are needed in addition to the rom path

Emulator Compatibility Guide Including Command Line Examples Empty
PostSubject: Re: Emulator Compatibility Guide Including Command Line Examples   Emulator Compatibility Guide Including Command Line Examples EmptySat Jun 13, 2015 8:34 pm

Also, the Game.Com emulator is OVERLY complicated to use, so I wrote a quick guide on how to load games.

Requirements:
- DSOUND.dll & DDRAW.dll (parts of DirectX)

The following files must be in the same directory as the exectuble file.
- MAIN.HEX [CRC32: E00C5ECB]
- MAIN0S.HEX [CRC32: 2825B58B]
- BITMAP2.BIN [CRC32: E2C0A031]

Step 01: Open the executable file

Step 02: If not already open, open the Disassemble Window by clicking on Window > Open Disasm Window

Step 03: Click on File > Load BIN File in the menu and select your rom e.g. Duke Nukem 3D (USA).bin (extension must be .bin)

Step 04: When the Input Window populates, leave the default value at zero in the Address? (Physical). field and press the OK button

Step 05: Click on File > Load HEX File option in the menu and select the MAIN.HEX file and click the Open button

Step 06: When the Input Window populates, leave the default value at zero in the Address? (Physical). field and press the OK button

Step 07: Click on File > Load HEX File option in the menu and select the MAIN0S.HEX file and click the Open button

Step 08: When the Input Window populates, leave the default value at zero in the Address? (Physical). field and press the OK button

Step 09: Click on File > Load Kernel. > Full Kernel option in the menu

Step 10: Click the Run button to start the Game.com Emulator

Step 11: Click on the Cartridge icon with the left mouse button
